The Subtle Art of Dealing with Stress

One of the hardest things to manage in life is stress. It can be triggered by relationships, family, sickness, money, work, or bills, or perhaps by a combination of several things. So what is the best way to manage stress, you might ask?

Managing life's stress can be challenging and overwhelming. There is no universal solution that works for everyone. Some individuals find it beneficial to speak with a professional therapist, while others prefer confiding in friends or family, provided they are not part of the issue. Many self-help books and eBooks are available, along with numerous online resources. Unfortunately, some people suppress their worries until they reach a breaking point, which is clearly not a healthy approach.

As you age, coping with stress tends to become easier. While worries don’t completely vanish with age, you learn to accept more. If you prefer to find a solution sooner rather than waiting until you're 50 or older, there is a technique that isn't widely discussed.

We've all heard the phrase "live in the moment," and it holds a lot of truth since no one is promised tomorrow. This concept can also be applied to how we deal with stress. The next time you're feeling overwhelmed, especially about something that is genuinely worrying you, try this simple technique: Take a moment for yourself, take a deep breath, and ask yourself how worrying is going to change what’s happening in that moment. The obvious answer is that it won’t help. In fact, worrying accomplishes nothing. You’ll realize that in that moment, you're in one of two situations: either you recognize that what’s stressing you has no impact on your life, or you will become motivated to find a solution and address the issue head-on.

In life, we all face significant challenges at some point, such as sickness in our family. As mortal beings, we must come to terms with the reality of death. Losing someone we love can be very traumatic and difficult to accept. No one can provide solutions for every situation, but it's important to remember that there are ways to deal with hardships, even when it feels like your world is falling apart. We all feel alone sometimes, but we are all very much in this life together.
